Planning a Healthy Week Menu in Claddagh
We have been learning about healthy and unhealthy foods and looking at what our bodies get from the different food groups.
Using what they had learned, 3rd class were challenged to plan five healthy meals per day to create a healthy menu covering a whole week. They performed brilliantly and managed to avoid picking all the tasty looking unhealthy treats which were available for them to choose!
WEEKLY MENU
The ZSG 2 students very often participate in discussions on healthy eating. On one of the classes they had to prepare a weekly meal plan. The students were very excited and they loved the classes. In most cases they composed their meals properly. We plan to carry out these activities regularly in our school.

ISLANDS OF EMOTIONS
On 11 April 2016 our students took part in the activity „Island of Emotions” organized within the ERASMUS + project. The topic of the course were the emotions and feelings, the way they display them and related associations. Every cloud represented diffrent emotion. Volunteers chose one “cloud” and were supposed to demonstrate it with gestures and facial expression as well as symbolize it saying the color they see, the sound they hear, the phenomena they associate. By the way, they were talking about empathy and assertiveness. It was an interesting experience favouring the development of emotional power, shaping the personality of young people and integrating the class team.

Health Day w ZSG nr 2 in Radomsko
Last week, as part of the project Erasmus Plus H.A.P.P.E.N.S. in our school we held a “Health Day”. Its organizers were the ladies: Agnieszka Gregorek-cone, Catherine Wojtala, Agnieszka Gębołyś, Krystyna Vodka, Aneta Wiecha, Joanna Wideryńska and
p. Adam Kołodziejski. It was awesome. Promotion of healthy lifestyle started with the fun in “Seven Stones”. This sports game we have learned from our friends in Greece. Competition for students in grades IV-VI and teachers prepared and conducted p. Adam Kołodziejski.
We watched the show Fri. “Healthy Little Red Riding Hood,” in which students performed a Class VI.
The biggest attraction of the “Health Day” was a meeting with the vice-Olympic wrestling, p. Peter Stepien. He presented us the story of his great sporting career and familiarize with the principles of this ancient discipline of the Olympic, which are stocks.
We also had the opportunity to see a demonstration training, performed by young wrestlers from our school. Everyone willing and courageous can try their hand and for a moment feel like Olympic athletes in ancient Greece. After the sports activities held tasting Mediterranean dishes.
Everyone could taste the healthy and colorful salads and delicious snacks prepared by students.
According to many students, “Health Day” was the coolest and most delicious day at school.
Vegetable Day in 11th Primary School of Haidari, Athens
Vegetable Day in 11th Primary School of Haidari, Athens
The students of our School were pleasantly surprised to find a vegetable stand placed in our patio on Monday! There, they had the chance to taste three different kinds of vegetables, tomato, cucumber and carrot, offered to them in plastic cups during the first break.
This action aimed at promoting the consumption of vegetables in general and especially as a school snack and it ended up being a great success as students keep asking if it is going to be repeated every Monday!
Well, that gives us a chance to establish Friday as our School Vegetable Day ,as Monday is already set to be our Fruit Day.
Hopefully, children and their families will be positively influenced and will adopt healthier eating habits and, in our case, healthier school snacks!
Suitcases of emotions
As part of the Erasmus programme aiming at Mental Health, third and fourth grade pupils during Drama class did a project on emotions combining Drama games and Art.
The pupils were inspired by a Greek modernist painter Alexis Akrithakis and made suitcases similar to the ones the artist has created but the children related them to emotions.
The pupils of third grade converted them into suitcases of emotions where they put notes with feelings they experience all day and perhaps want to share with their classmates.
Pupils of fourth grade defined them as suitcases of friendship. Through drama games they decided what kind of friend they are looking for and what they expect from a friendship.
Then this suitcase carries messages of love and friendship among them.

Ms. Lee’s Claddagh First Class Takes the Claddagh Kilometre Challenge!
We love the Daily K!
The 1st class students have been happily taking part in our new physical fitness initiative – The Claddagh K! The children love running the track that has been mapped out in our school yard.
Their fitness levels are improving all of the time!
While some children find the task difficult, all of the students understand that it is not a competitive activity and so they support each other in making it to the end.
The children are so proud when they see their progress as the weeks go by!
